A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a gold buckeye with crimson burst all enclosed on the upper half by a semi-circular arch divided throughout its length into gold and light blue by a dovetail pattern, and in base by two gold double S wrenches, one left and one right and surmounted vertically by a gold sword, tip extending beyond at the top and pommel between the wrench heads, all above a light blue scroll arced around base and inscribed PRIDE IN DUTY in gold letters.
Crimson and light blue are the colors used for Maintenance units. The sword, symbol of leadership, represents the overall mission of the organization and the dovetail and wrenches allude to the capabilities. The buckeye suggested by the states nickname, refers to Ohio and denotes the units status and home.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 13 March 1972.
